    The Mayo Clinic defines a Laryngospasm as “a brief spasm of the vocal cords that temporarily makes it difficult to speak or breathe,” so these singing doctors figured it would be the perfect band name!

    The Laryngospasms are a musical medical parody group of four certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA)s. While singing Neil Sedaka’s classic hit ‘Breaking Up Is Hard To Do’ at Minneapolis School of Anesthesia student Christmas party in 1990.

    One of the seniors noticed that the song could easily be parodied as ‘Waking Up Is Hard To Do’ and their first hit was born.
