While Rio Olympics is just around the corner, a lot of news is coming up everyday regarding sports, even the sports section in the newspapers is covering more and more area with every passing day.

While everyone is talking about sports, I've got one question about athletes? Why do they cover their body with weird taping (mostly blue)? Does it actually do something? What's the reason behind this?

Wanna know the answer? Read ahead to solve the query.

The tape which athletes put on their body is known as Kinesio taping.

Most of the athletes who participated in 2008 and 2012 Olympics preferred Kinesio Tex Tape.

    But why it is used?

The KT tape is used to provide the external support to the body.

This tape can be applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation.

This tape can also be used to treat sore muscles and shin splints.

Though there's no scientific evidence of these claims.

So, maybe the use of this tape is just a placebo effect.
