In the USA it is 4 years of medical school (not counting time off to study for USMLE STEP 1 since most schools will not let you start clinicals until you pass the STEP 1). Two years of basic science and two year of clinical rotations. However, in order to get to med school, one must posses a 4-5 year college degree. After medical school, if one matches for residency, it will be from 3-6 years depending on specialty.

    Hello friends! :)
I'm from Italy. I study Medicine at Università degli Studi di Catania.
The duration is 6 years to became a doctor of general medicine. After is necessary to do an abilitation test. At this point it's possible to work in emergency medical Service, not in emergency room. Infact, after these 6 years we have to do another test for specialization (es. cardiology, endocrinology, neurology). So we have to study for another 4 years. n the meantime we have to work in the hospital.
    Simply!

Sorry for my bad English. I'm learning it ;)
