Want to Become a Doctor , But Wonder How Doctors Really Feel About Their Profession? As a pre-med student studying this subject I have spoken to several doctors about their profession, their education, and the quality of their lives. A common topic was the difficulty of residency and the need for changes in the "system". I found doctors opinions of their work vary greatly depending on their specialty. Busy family practice doctors seem to spend more hours at work and complain of their lack of "a life outside the hospital". Whereas one dermatologist quipped, "have you ever heard of a dermatological emergency? That's why I chose it, no on-call, nice hours, and lot's of golfing!" An emergency room doctor spoke highly of his specialty, again citing no call, 8-hour shifts, and plenty of variety. One busy doctor who is nearing retirement spent 15 minutes convincing me that he really didn't like his job. However, when I asked him how he made it through the training and why he hadn't left the profession he said, "because I love helping people and I can't imagine doing anything else". If that's the way you feel, then take the next step down the path to become a doctor and read on. Source : Is Becoming a Physician Right for You?

i didnt know if i am really suitable to be a doctor or not. im still confuse if someday i can help people or not. but i'll just give a try. maybe im walking in the right path now, or maybe not.

Right or wrong, the two choices I have never thought of this question... Once I have studied to become a doctor, I have never thought of giving up.... N whenever I feel tired of studying, I try to think of saving other people's lives and really feel proud of myself and all my tiredness goes away...
never chose so...i dunno, but one things for sure,ur gonna have a lot of work once the whole world around you retires in old age.they'd sit worrying wat to do and u'd wonder if u can take a break from work, that the only beauty i see in this profession.otherwise its an uphill drive..
I'm gonna be the doctor that I dream , and I feel that I can do it, I'll be the doctor who is devoted for his work but still can live his life easily and happily
I believe helping people and saving lives are the most honorable purposes in a job, that's why I'm seriously considering attending medical school even though I know the amount of hard work to do and the long hours of study and dedication I have to spend to become a doctor who can actually save people's lives.
For me any other job wouldn't be the right one...i can't imagine doing anything else but medicine ...if i would start all over again i would choose the same path.I just love the purpose, the environment, the clothes (i could die in my scrub that's how much i love it) etc.
