Mum gives birth to healthy baby boy despite ‘rupture pregnancy’ which saw his foot grow OUTSIDE the uterus

There are only six cases recorded of this ever happening

THIS unborn baby boy looks like he is kicking out of his mum’s uterus.

But this is in fact a rare ‘rupture pregnancy’, one of only 26 cases of this ever recorded.

The mum’s MRI scan shows what was going on
This photograph is of the French mother’s MRI and her doctor, Pierre-Emanuel Bouet, a gynaecologist at Angers University Hospital, said he had never seen anything like it.

The 33-year-old had developed a one inch (2.5cm) tear in the wall of her uterus and part of her amniotic sac, measuring 7.5 by 4.7 by 3.5 inches (19 by 12 by 9 cm), had popped out – according to a report in in The New England Journal of Medicine.

The mum and her partner were told the resulting complications could involve uterine rupture, placenta accreta, hysterectomy, and preterm birth.

What Dr Pierre-Emanuel wrote about the case:

“A 33-year-old asymptomatic woman presented at 22 weeks of gestation with a large herniation of the amniotic sac through the left uterine wall that was detected by routine ultrasonography.

“Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 2.5-cm rupture of the left uterine wall (arrows) and a large amniocele that measured 19 cm by12 cm by 9 cm and contained fetal legs.”

Amazingly, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy (picture posed by model)
But amazingly the mum, who has had five Cesarean sections in the past, gave birth to a healthy 3lb baby boy – who is now six months old.

After 30 weeks of pregnancy, doctors found the uterine sac had extended by 5 cm and the herniated sac had grown and included the fetus’ abdomen and legs, and decided to perform a C-section.

After the child’s birth, doctors repaired the mum’s uterine rupture and large amniocele.
