We’re aware that eating before bed is a bad habit that we have to pay for with extra pounds and restless sleep. Looking for a way to fight it, we have found 10 simple tricks that’ll make you forget the way to your fridge after dinner.

    1. Have eggs for breakfast.

A heavy gun in the fight with nocturnal appetite is a hearty breakfast, especially one that includes eggs. Eggs help you lose weight faster, and they are twice as filling as cereal or bread. They also reduce the feeling of hunger and calorie consumption at lunch and over the next 24 hours.

    2. Don’t buy tempting snacks.

If you don’t want to test your willpower, it’s best to not buy your favorite snacks at all, or you might lose a grip on yourself when night falls. If they are already in the fridge, seducing you with their delicious looks, you can pack them in a nontransparent bag (which you can tie up with Scotch tape and put on the most remote shelf of the fridge — just in case).

    3. Avoid empty calories.

Foods rich in simple carbohydrates — fried stuff, fast food, sweet soda, cakes, fatty sauces, and alcohol — will certainly draw you to the fridge for another snack.

    4. Halve the amount of salt.

Salt and other spices intensify the feeling of hunger. To accentuate the natural taste of food, you can season it with onion, garlic, and herbs instead of salt.

    5. Add broccoli.

broccoli heads added to your evening salad will make you feel full for longer.

    6. Do sports.

It’s been proven that high-intensity exercise not only burns calories but also suppresses appetite. In addition, it helps to relieve the stress of the day that tends to push us to the fridge.

    7. Cool off.

A fit of nightly hunger can be "frozen" by reducing the temperature in the room. Besides, at a temperature of 17-18°C (63-63°F), the body burns 7% more calories than in heat and stuffiness.

    8. Drink mineral water.

We often confuse thirst with hunger, so instead of yogurt you could drink a glass of mineral water and feel your appetite go away. It wouldn’t do any harm to have a glass of this helpful liquid on your bedside table so as not to enter the kitchen at all.

    9. Brush your teeth.

When we brush our teeth in the evening, the brain gets a signal saying, "No more food today!" Furthermore, the taste of mint and menthol makes the prospect of a snack less attractive.

    10. Go to bed before 23:00.

Or just sleep through the time you might break loose, and let those cakes appear in your dreams all they want. All the more so since each additional hour of sleep reduces calorie consumption throughout the day by around 6%.

Don’t be discouraged if you can’t get everything working from the first day. Try and put these 10 tips into practice until you get a positive result.
