The Abs Diet was developed by David Zinczenko. Primarily and it offers sensible solutions for both men and women who wish to lose weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle as well. The diet promotes 12 foods, dubbed as the “Power 12 Foods”. While under the diet, it is recommended that you combine several of the 12 foods in each meal in order to get balanced nutrition. It is also recommended that each snack you consume under the diet includes a source of protein.

    1. Almonds and Nuts

Eating whole nuts like almonds can help you build muscle, which is essential for enhancing metabolism. Nuts also reduce the food cravings that you often experience during diets. To get the maximum amount of nutrients from nuts, eat them whole with the skin.

    2. Beans and Legumes

Pinto beans, lima beans, kidney beans, soybeans, navy beans and chickpeas not only help you build muscle but can also help burn fat and enhance digestion.

    3. Spinach and Other Greens

Green leafy vegetables like spinach are rich sources of antioxidants. As you probably know, antioxidants help fight free radicals which wear down cells as you age.

    4. Dairy products

You probably know that calcium-rich dairy products can help strengthen bones, but what you don’t know is that dairy can also hasten weight loss. Choose low-fat milk instead of whole and stay away from sweetened frozen yogurts.

    5. Instant Oatmeal

Oatmeal helps reduce bad cholesterol in your body, regulates your blood sugar and even gives your sexual health a boost. Choose oatmeal without the flavorings to avoid the unwanted calories.

    6. Eggs

The egg is one of the most nutritious foods around. Because it helps you lose fat while developing muscle, it’s good to incorporate it into the diet.

    7. Poultry, Fish and Other Lean Meats

Aside from building muscle, lean meats like turkey, chicken and fish also improve your immune system. Avoid meat products that are high in fat, such as ham, bacon, sausage and other cured meats. If you wish to eat a steak, stay away from fatty cuts like rib eye and T-bone and go for a lean cut instead.

    8. Peanut Butter

Unfortunately, most of the peanut butter brands that you will see in supermarkets and grocery stores today contain large amounts of trans fats and other harmful ingredients. If you can, try to search for all-natural peanut butter without sugar.

    9. Olive Oil

Known for battling cholesterol and strengthening the immune system, olive oil is a great and healthy alternative for the unhealthy oils that most people consume today.

    10. Whole-Grain Cereals and Breads

Consuming enough whole-grain carbs prevents your body from storing excessive amounts of fat. Whole-wheat pasta, brown rice and whole-wheat pretzels are some of the foods you can enjoy.

    11. Whey or Extra-Protein Powder

Whey is best known as a supplement that bodybuilders take to increase muscles. Be sure to purchase whey instead of soy protein substitutes.

    12. Raspberries, blueberries, etc.

Berries make a great snack, especially if you are craving something sweet. They can enhance your eyesight and memory while protecting you from heart disease.
