Re: 20 y/o female military recruit knee xray firstly, i wud hav loved to see the area of increased uptake on X ray as well on the x ray the medial compartment of the knee is slightly reduced and honestly the hx is forcing me to b a little biased (-: but i wud take an imprint of her arch + see if there is excessive in-rollong at the ankle joint, when she runs ( can do it on a treadmill and study the video in slow motion) on the bone scan der is increase uptake in the part of town that is predisposed to stress fractures. I will first advice her total rest for 6 -8 weeks ( i mean no marching or running ), den introduce her to chi running, strengthen her peroneal group of muscles ( to balance out her tib ant and post ) and prescribe her proper shoes ( good support 4 the medial long. arch ). i hav dealt with the lower extremity biomechanics here ......http://forum.facmedicine.com/spot-diagnosis/13551-knee-pain.html P.S : i can't make sense of the pain getting worse with rain and i don't wanna say anything funny to an army guy/gal or his/her patient ( even on the internet ).....becos i respect the sacrifice they make 4 their countries (Y)
