No matter who you are or what you do, chances are you deal with some stress in your life. Stress can make you tired, wear you out, make you moody and even cause dark circles under your eyes and wrinkles. It also lowers our immune system and makes us more prone to sickness and allergies! The good news is you can fight stress with healthy food choices. Here are my top stress-busting foods.Avocado. Delicious and full of healthy fats that keep our skin looking beautiful! The high levels of B vitamins are also great for calming nerves, brain cells. Vitamin B deficiency can even lead to feelings of stress. Try some avocado on a slice of toast or add some to a smoothie or a salad.Blueberries. One of the best foods when it comes to antioxidants and vitamin C these little berries are great stress busters! The vitamin C helps repair and protect cells as well as helping to reduce the secretion of cortisol- a stress hormone. A handful of berries on top of some Greek yogurt makes a delicious treat.

Almonds. Rich in vitamins B2 and E, two nutrients that help boost the immune system during times of stress and magnesium is especially beneficial during times of high stress. They make an excellent snack on their own or with a piece of fruit.

Wild Salmon. The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon help keep cortisol and adrenaline from spiking during stressful situations. Eating protein regularly can also help prevent spikes and drops in blood sugar, which is also stressful on the body. Make sure to stick with wild salmon since farmed salmon is loaded with antibiotics, chemicals and toxins.

Make sure to get plenty of these foods into your diet on a regular basis and in times of extreme stress try reaching for one of these stress-busting foods instead of junk food!
