Kicking the soda and sugary drink habit is a tough task, but if you replace those calorie-filled beverages with iced drinks it will be much easier! Iced drinks are a great way to lose weight because your body burns calories while raising the temperature of iced beverages to body temperature. If you replace your unhealthy beverages with iced drinks every day, the calories you burn can really add up. Don’t think that that’s an excuse to start drinking icy-cold soda every day! To get the weight loss benefits of iced drinks, you need the calorie-burning cold temperature of the ice and a drink that either has very few calories or has other weight loss benefits. These five drinks are great iced and should be a regular part of your diet.

    1. Ice Water

Water is the classic go-to beverage, and the same is true when you’re talking about iced drinks. A cold glass of ice water burns calories, fills you up, and boosts your metabolism. The effect is even greater if you drink the recommended 64 ounces a day to prevent dehydration. Furthermore, staying hydrated with water helps your body flush out sodium and keeps you from getting bloated.

    2. Iced Green Tea

Green tea is great for dieters—it helps your body burn calories faster and is stocked full of antioxidants. It also speeds up your metabolism, leading to even more weight loss. EGCG, a chemical present in green tea, causes your nervous system to work more quickly; this leads to greater weight loss. Green tea is easy to enjoy as an iced drink—just prepare like you’d prepare any iced tea and keep a pitcher in your refrigerator. Remember, don’t add too much sugar or sweetener!

    3. Iced Coffee

Drinks that have close to zero calories are few and far between, and luckily coffee is one of them! Coffee has nearly zero calories when it’s served black. Additionally, the caffeine present in coffee helps your metabolism work more efficiently and helps you exercise more efficiently. The trick with coffee is to avoid adding too much milk, sugar, or flavor syrup. The calories will add up very quickly and while your coffee will end up tasting very good, your waistline will also end up expanding.

    4. Vegetable or Fruit Juice Over Ice

Vegetable juice has fewer calories and sugar than fruit juice, making it the better choice. However, if you don’t enjoy vegetable juice, fruit juice that has no added sugar is a great substitute.

    5. Fiber Drinks

Many companies now offer powder packets of fiber drinks—they come in flavors like lemonade, tea, fruit juice, and punch. You can mix them with a glass of ice water and instantly have a healthy and yummy drink. The fiber will fill you up and keep you from overeating throughout the day.
Iced drinks are definitely the way to go if you are looking to stay hydrated and refreshed while losing weight. Try swapping your daily soda with one of these healthy choices and see how quicly the weight comes off!
