The medical team in a health facility in the city of Skikda, eastern Algeria discovered on Tuesday a very rare case of an old woman aged 73 years old carrying a petrified fetus in her womb for the past 35 years, according to Algerian Newspaper Alchourouk.

The old woman led a very normal life, until she felt abnormal pain in her body and was transmitted to the hospital where she was diagnosed.

After the symptomatic procedures, the doctors ascertained the unexpected. The X scan showed the presence of a foreign body in the old woman’s belly, not inside her womb. The woman carried a fossilized fetus for the past 35 years, weighing more than 2 kilos and aged 7 months. Nevertheless, she enjoyed a good quality of life and was not affected, nor harmed by the fossilized fetus she carried back in 1981.

It looks like a Pharaoh Mummy
The old woman has previously undergone radiation, yet the doctors didn’t discover the fossilized unborn. The CT scan detected the fossilized fetus that resembles the mummies.

There are less than 300 reported cases of fossilized fetuses worldwide in the history of medicine. The first case was reported in 1582 AD when a French woman passed away at the age of 68 years old, leaving behind a medical miracle in her belly to be found.
