    • Palm Line Alteration

In Japan, where palm reading still is a very popular means of fortune-telling, some people have figured out a way to change their fate. It's a simple idea: change your palm, change the reading, and change your future. All you need is a competent plastic surgeon with an electric scalpel who has a basic knowledge of palmistry. The procedure usually takes around 15 minutes, with between five to ten lines being altered

    • Iris Color Surgery

    [Broken External Image]:http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles2/a98711_plastic_5-eye-color-change.jpg

From wrinkles on her furrowed forehead to the tips of her unsightly toes, cosmetic surgery offers the promise of changing almost every aspect of a woman's body. However, there has been one prominent feature no needle or scalpel could alter: the color of her eyes. No amount of envy or surgical interference could turn brown eyes blue without the aid of tinted contact lenses.

Until now, that is. Pioneered by Dr. Kenneth Rosenthal, as a way to correct various eye defects (heterochromia, ocular albinism, etc.), the artificial iris implant procedure is now also being advertised as cosmetic surgery for people who want to permanently change the color of their eyes. The artificial iris is a thin, non-toxic prosthesis made of the same ophthalmic grade silicone used in intraocular lenses. Since the fake iris is very flexible, it can be folded and inserted into the eye through a peripheral corneal surgical incision about 2.8 mm long and then unfolded over the natural iris.

According to the website of BrightOcular, the company behind the increasingly popular cosmetic eye surgery, the procedure is “short, safe, and painless,” taking about 15 minutes for each eye. Unlike other laser-based procedures that remove a layer of melanin from the iris in order to permanently change its color, BrightOcular claims that their iris implant can easily be removed in case of complications, or if the patient so desires.

    • Foot Facelifts

    [Broken External Image]:http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles2/a98711_plastic_3-foot-face-lift.jpg

Cosmetic surgery has entered the realm of feet, as well. Dr. Oliver Zong, the Director of Surgery at NYC Footcare, specializes in elective foot surgery including the reduction of fat toes. However, Zong also performs what he calls "foot facelifts," which is surgery that includes the shortening of toes to make feet more narrow and "enhance the appearance."

NYC Footcare is part of a growing trend, with elective foot surgery such as shortenings and fat reductions becoming a $45 million industry. Many of Zong's patients are women who have the surgery so they can better fit into high heels and other tight fitting shoes.

However, some physicians say that such surgery is unethical because it can have major side-effects. This includes deformity of the toes if the surgery is not performed correctly, according to ABC.

Although there is a whole list of things he will do, Zong refuses, despite being asked, to amputate the pinky toe so that feet can fit into tighter shoes.

    • Moustache Implant

Turkey's economy is getting hairier, as a booming medical sector profits from a growth spurt of mustache transplants.

Long favored as a destination for the follicly challenged, for years Turkey's cosmetic surgeons have offered hair implants for those who are balding on top. Now, hair transplants for the face are growing in popularity, with men from the Middle East, Europe, and Asia going to Istanbul seeking a virile addition for the upper lip.

The procedure uses a technique called follicle-hair extraction, in which doctors remove clusters of hair from the more hirsute areas of the body and implant them along the lip or cheeks to magnify a mustache or beef-up a beard.

Performed under local anesthetic, the surgery takes around five hours and can cost up to $5,000, cosmetic surgeons say. Tourism agencies have begun offering "transplant packages" combining facial-hair operations with a shopping vacation in Istanbul or a beachside retreat on the Mediterranean coast.

    • Poker Face Botox

Would you like to have an emotionless face, devoid of expression? If you're a professional poker player, the answer is yes. That's why Dr. Jack Berdy of New York City offers a service that he calls "Pokertox." The procedure consists of injecting Botox appropriately so that the opponent doesn't get the message that the player/patient is angry, disappointed or happy. It costs an average of $600 to $800 and lasts from three to four months.

    • Mouth Corner Lift

    [Broken External Image]:http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles2/a98711_plastic_8-mouth-corner.jpg

A Reddit thread allerted us to a growing trend in Asia: Mouth corner lift surgery. This is where tiny incisions in the corners of the lip are used to raise the sides of the mouth.
The photo, posted by Reddit user anthissomesh*t, shows a woman with very pronounced, Joker-like mouth curls, but we can't verify its authenticity. According to a video produced by Aone Plastic Surgery in South Korea, this procedure (called a “Smile Lipt” because it combines lip and lift) corrects “drooping” mouth corners and enables people to look like they are smiling without actually smiling.

The cosmetic procedure is ideal for patients with sagging or asymmetric mouth corners or people who are not confident with their smiles, the video says.

    • Asian Double Eyelid Surgery

    [Broken External Image]:http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles2/a98711_plastic_7-western-face.jpg

South Korean women have become so immersed in western celebrity culture that double eyelid surgery, which creates the Caucasian crease many Asian women don't naturally have, has become as common as going to the dentist. Overtaking Brazil as the plastic surgery capital of the world, South Korea now has the highest number of surgeries performed per capita.

Eyelid surgery involves cutting the outer end of the eyes to make them wider and rounder, something plastic surgeons say boosts confidence. Dr. Seo, a surgeon from Seo Jae Don Plastic Clinic, says his clinic, one of the most successful in a city dubbed the "plastic surgery capital of Asia," performs 100 surgeries a day, ranging from eyelid surgery to nose reshaping to facial contouring.

    • Dimple Creation

    [Broken External Image]:http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles2/a98711_plastic_9-dimp-creation.jpg

We can't all be born with dimples like Jennifer Garner and Mario Lopez, but some plastic surgeons are creating them.

To create a dimple, a small painless incision is made in the inside of the cheek. There is no incision or scar on the outside skin. A small, absorbable suture is passed through the inside of the cheek and catches the undersurface of the skin where the dimple is desired. When this suture is tied it causes a dimpling in the overlying skin.

At first, there is a dimple present even without smiling, but after several days the dimple is only present while smiling or moving the face.

    • Limb Lengthening

    [Broken External Image]:http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles2/a98711_plastic_2-limb-lengthening.jpg

A man in New York has “grown” over six inches through painful limb-lengthening surgeries intended to artificially increase his height. While the reason behind Apotheosis (his pseudonym) undergoing surgery might be cosmetic, there are, in fact, numerous patients suffering from dwarfism or deformities who have or are currently going through the process of surgically lengthening their limbs.

This rare procedure is performed by only a few doctors in the United States and costs roughly $85,000. Painful, time consuming, and expensive are just a few words to describe this incredible surgery which has assisted those like Apotheosis, and many more, to achieve a height beyond that which they were otherwise destined to have.

Great! I had never heard of these surgeries before. Thanks for such an informative post. Keep updating in future if more such new techniques are implemented.
