A tragic boy born without eyes has had his hopes of ever seeing dashed.

Little Marwanijung has been having tests in a Chinese hospital in the Xinjiang region, as previous check-ups found he has a left eye blocked by skin.

But experts at the Army 474 Hospital in Urumqi now say surgery to unblock the skin would not help him see - as his left eye has no lens.

Dad Madamihan had high hopes for the latest tests. He said: "From eight months old, he was addicted to flashing his left eye with a flashlight.

"He is eager to see light, and we prayed every day that he could see the light."

Docs now suggest that the best they can do is to wait until Marwanijung is 16 years old and then sign him up for artificial eye installation surgery.

Parents Madamihan and Salamu, both 26, are of the Tajik minority in China.

It should be open the skin then replace his lens from other human, in both eyes to balance his vision.
