A 24 year old woman is diagnosed with trichomonal vaginal infection. She is prescribed metronidazole. This woman is breast feeding her 3 month old boy.

What is the appropriate advice for this woman concerning taking metronidazloe while she is breast feeding?

A- Stop breast feeding and replace it with formula for 3 months

B- Stop metronidazole and choose another less effective drug as you weigh the benefits and the risks

C- Advice her to use the pump to collect her breast milk every 24 hours right before she takes daily metronidazole

D- Advice her to keep breastfeeding her child as there is no risk of the drug on breast feeding

    E- Stop breast feeding indefinitely
