Acanthosis Nigricans – it’s a black to brown hyper-pigmented area of the skin (involves mucous membranes) usually found at body folds. Commonly associated with Insulin Resistance. It leads to hyperplasia and thickening of the skin. Risk Factors include: Obesity, Glandular Disorders, Medical (OC, Corticosteroids), Internal Malignancies. RX: OTC creams (cortisone) Treat the underlying cause.
Acanthosis nigricans, associated with obesity or endocrinopathies, such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, acromegaly, polycystic ovary disease, insulin-resistant diabetes, or Cushing's disease.
This is Erythrasma caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum; can treat with topical Erythromycine or Clindamycine
