ganglion cyst: I think it's a cyst from wrist joint, less probably from extensor digitorum tendon. Wrist ecography (US) should clarify the origin. In the first situation, surgery should be used only if the cyst has great dimensions, disturbing wrist and tendon movements: in fact surgical treatment has a high rate of recurrence. If the cyst takes origin from a tendon, surgical treatment has a higher rate of success (with a lower rate of recurrence).
