The incident took place at Prodattur Government hospital in Kadapa district of Hyderabad. Reportedly, the doctor attacked his senior as a result of a personal grudge against him.

The accused has been identified as Dr David Raju and the police have booked a case of attempt to murder against him. Raju has been taken into the custody by the police.

The doctor who was attacked has been identified as Dr Lakshmi Prasad. Raju was reportedly angry over Prasad after the latter had reprimanded him for dereliction of duty on a number of occasions. However, Raju has claimed that despite rendering is duty honestly, Prasad was harassing him.

As per a report in The Pioneer, Raju collected the blood from an AIDS patient in a syringe and later tried to attack Prasad with it. As he reached Prasad's office with the HIV infected blood filled syringe, Prasad was alerted by one of the employees present there. In a bid to save himself, Prasad dodged him and ran away immediately. As Raju tried to get hold of him, the blood spilled on the floor. Some of the blood had spilled over Prasad's shirt as well.

Raju was soon overpowered by the hospital staff who also alerted the police. The police reached the spot and took custody of Raju and booked a case of attempt to murder against him.

The District Coordinator of Hospital Services (DCHS), Dr Jayarajan was also alerted by the hospital staff who also reached the spot.

The District Magistrate has also asked Jayarajan to investigate the issue and submit a detailed report regarding the incident.
