Doctors Baffled By Mysterious Flesh-Eating Virus That Eats Man’s Face Away While He’s Still Alive

A man from Vietnam suffers from a mysterious illness that eats his face away. Huynh Van Dat, 51, from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was unable to get a proper diagnosis for his disease, leaving him in a bed of agonizing pain for 11 years.

It was in 2004 when Mr. Dat began getting frequent nosebleeds about three to four times a day.

His wife Huynh Thi Trieu said: “He was taking traditional medicines but they didn’t make any difference, and then he also started to have problems with his eyes which were constantly watering.”

The man went to Hoa Hoa Hospital for examination and doctors performed an immediate surgery when they diagnosed him with a deviated nasal septum, a problem with his nose partition.

But the disease continued to progress, a year later he discovered that whenever he drank water, it ran into his nose through a hole in the roof of his mouth.

After several months, the hole got bigger and reached his nose partition.

Dat was rushed to Van Hanh Hospital, where the medics performed a second operation after finding out he suffered from nose bridge failure. But still, it didn’t help stop his suffering.

He then consulted doctors at the Pharma University and the Vietnam-France Hospital. All the medical experts said he had nose bridge failure which was a disease that could be cured, sadly, it is too expensive for him to afford.

Nonetheless, Mr. Dat continued to pay all he could until he runs out of money and returned home. He continued treating his disease using local traditional medicines, the only cure he can provide.

Unfortunately, the mysterious flesh-eating thing continued devouring his face, causing his health to deteriorate.

The video below shows the early stage of Mr. Dat’s condition after the “flesh-eating parasite” started eating away his ear, leaving a huge gruesome wound on the right side of his head.

Now, he can no longer eat and speak properly, although his mind is still thought to be intact, which means he can still feel pain.

Unfortunately, doctors admit they are puzzled by the mysterious flesh-eating virus that has been rotting the man’s face away – leaving him bed ridden and in constant distress.

Since his story made a headline on local and social media, mystified doctors have agreed to take Mr. Dat on as a patient and promised to do what they could to help in order to cure him, if not, lessen his suffering.
