This young Indian boy has hands larger than most adult feet — a staggering 12 inches long from palm to tip. Twelve-year-old Tarik, from Uttar Pradesh, has had “big hands” since birth — and his parents still don’t know why, his family told Barcroft Media. The condition, which has not been diagnosed from doctors, prevents Tarik from doing basic daily tasks like bathing, dressing and eating — and he was even refused admission to school, the outlet reported. “His hands are really big,” Tarik’s older brother, Hargyan, told Barcroft Media. “I have never seen such big hands in my life. He is stuck in his life. He can’t even change his clothes. I have to look after Tarik.” His hands continued growing throughout his childhood — and though he did visit several doctors when he was younger, his family is no longer able to afford the necessary treatment, his aunt, Pushpa, told the outlet. “When his father was alive, he took him to the local doctors a lot,” she said. “But his father passed away and he only has his mother now, so he can’t get any treatment.” “Local doctors never helped,” Hargyan added. “Every single doctor suggested to get Tarik a proper treatment. But for us there is no way. He has to stay like this till we have some money for the treatment.” Tarik and children from his village compare their hands. Tarik’s foot-long hands have made him the brunt of bullying from children and adults alike, he said. “I had [a] few friends in the beginning but now I don’t have any,” the boy told Barcroft Media. “People are scared of my hands. I wanted to study but school refused my admission.” Local physician Dr. Pawan Kumar Gandhi told Barcroft that Tarik’s problem is a “mystery” to him — and he’s never seen a patient with his condition before. “Chances are low but nothing is impossible,” Gandhi told the outlet. Tarik said he just wants a normal childhood like his peers. “I want to get rid of this condition,” he told Barcroft Media. “I want to become like other kids who go to school every day and play like normal kids. I see a hope that I will get normal hands.” Source
