A 44-year-old FOETUS has been found inside the body of a Brazilian woman.

Doctors made the staggering discovery after the 84-year-old woman was admitted to hospital on Friday suffering from severe stomach pains and dizziness.

An x-ray of the pensioner’s abdomen showed a 20 to 28-week-old “stone baby” inside her body.

Medics at in Natividade, Tocantins state, transferred the woman to Porto Nacional Hospital near Palmas for further tests.

The unnamed woman is believed to have told doctors that she fell pregnant 44 years ago, according to a report by G1.

After experiencing excruciating pains, she sought the help of a witch doctor as there were no proper doctors in her village at the time.

She claims he prescribed her medication which almost immediately made her feel better.

“Her stomach didn’t grow any more, the baby stopped moving and she thought it had been aborted,” Porto Nacional hospital gynaecologist Gesneria Saraiva Kratka told G1.

However, despite the death of the foetus, Saraiva Kratka said it remained inside the woman’s body for more than four decades.

“Through ultrasound it was not possible to see the foetus,” Saraiva Kratka added, saying: “We saw it with X-rays. It was possible to see the face, the bones of the arms, of the legs, the ribs and the spine.”

The woman has since told doctors she has no intention of removing the foetus.

But Saraiva Kratka said she was hoping to change her mind in order to prevent further health complications from developing in the future.

“It’s supernatural, but she has not had any complications,” Saraiva Kratka said.

“We are going to perform some new tests, scans to see more details and then we will speak with her relatives to see if they allow us to operate,” she added.
