As the second wave of pandemic rages on, doctors notice a surge in associated digestive issues like flatulence, bloating, and acidity.

Many people are struggling to get used to the new normal, while grappling with illnesses, loss of their loved ones and financial losses. Amidst this, despite the growing need for a healthy lifestyle, health has taken a back seat for many.

It is known that covid causes symptoms like loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and pain in the abdomen. Along with this, doctors are reporting that an increasing number of patients are seen suffering from other digestive issues, while recovering from covid.

The treatment of covid also includes multiple drug combinations that tend to take a toll on the gastro-intestinal system during the recovery phase.

It is best to avoid oily and excessively spicy food. Stay away from sugar, excess caffeine, tea and junk food. It is necessary to eat on time and eat well. A balanced diet should include controlled portions of salads, fruits, and curd regularly.

Exercising regularly, drinking adequate water and maintaining good sleeping habits are also important to keep your digestive system healthy.

If there is an increase in gastrointestinal symptoms post-covid, contact your doctor at the earliest for timely care.
