An innovative local group has won an award for helping many GPs in Halton, Knowsley and St Helens to offer social answers to patients’ problems, as well as medical ones. Wellbeing Enterprise CIC, a social enterprise based in Runcorn, was crowned the best health and social care initiative at the national social enterprise awards last week. It has supported thousands of people to tap into their interests and skills to help make them healthier and happier since it was founded in 2005. Founder Mark Swift, 35, from St Helens, said it helped GPs to prescribe included tango and ukelele classes, mindfulness and life skills courses and comedy workshops.
