Well, it finally happened. A lady in Australia literally got trapped in her skinny jeans and had to be cut out of them by a medical professional.

Yep, you heard us right—a woman got so stuck in her skinnies that she passed out, was rushed to the emergency room, and had to be cut out of her pants.

As a skinny jean connoisseur, this is pretty much my worst nightmare.

And it actually happened to someone.

Thomas Kimber describes the 35-year-old Adelaide woman’s actual nightmare in the latest issue of the journal Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.

Apparently she passed out on the side of the road after trying to help a friend move while wearing skinny jeans, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

She had spent hours squatting to empty cupboards for a house move in Australia. By evening, her feet were numb and she found it hard to walk. Doctors believe the woman developed a condition called compartment syndrome, made worse by her skinny jeans.

She was then taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital, and because her legs had swollen so much, she had to have the jeans cut off by doctors.

“We were certainly surprised and shocked. It was a surprise to us that someone could get such severe nerve and muscle damage from the activity she described. The clothing she was wearing was the critical factor,” said Dr Kimber.

Other medics have reported a number (a number!) of cases where patients have developed tingly, numb thighs from wearing the too-tight pants. The take-home message—don’t wear skinny jeans if you’re planning to exert yourself a whole lot or are planning on doing anything that involves kneeling or squatting for long periods of time.

If your legs do start to feel tingly, stand up right away, and shake it out, ladies. This is going to get the blood circulating again.

    Which is awesome.

Because then you won’t have to be cut out of your pants.
