Apple has shared a list of products that should be kept at a safe distance from medical devices due to potential magnetic interference. Think defibrillators and implantable defibrillators.

Apple products may interfere with medical devices. This puts people who use pacemakers at risk of suffering. To avoid this, it’s important to keep some Apple products at a safe distance from pacemakers.

So what exactly do you mean by “safe distance”? Apple indicates that 15 cm is generally sufficient. When the products are charged wirelessly, a safe distance of 30cm is applied. This can vary for each device. So it is always wise to consult a doctor for specific guidance.

Apple said that some Apple products contain magnets that are unlikely to interfere with medical devices. So these products are not included in the list. The products on the list are:

iPhone 12 is already a talking point among doctors

Earlier this month, the American Heart Association published a small study on the effect of iPhone 12 on different types of pacemakers, defibrillators and implantable defibrillators. This showed that 11 out of 14 cardiac systems experienced interference when a iPhone 12 Pro Max It was close to the heart machine.

In January 2021, an article was revealed in the journal Heart Rhythm That magnetic interference from iPhone 12 models could prevent life-saving treatment in a patient. Three doctors in Michigan tested this reaction by holding the iPhone 12 near an implantable pacemaker and defibrillator. The defibrillator immediately stopped working properly.
