Dubai Health Authority: Licenses Of Healthcare Professionals During COVID-19 Pandemic

    To: All Healthcare Professionals and Health Facilities Licensed by DHA

    In line with DHA precautionary measures aimed stopping the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and in order to support and increase the number of qualified health professionals without waiving professional Standards that guarantee patients safety, DHA has taken the below procedures in regards to Health professional licensure as follow:

    For new applicants:

    Exempt new healthcare professionals, in below mentioned specialties, temporarily from sitting for licensing exam (Computer-based or Oral):

    Medical Specialties: Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Infectious disease, Pulmonology, Critical Care Medicine, Clinical Immunology and Allergy Physician, Anesthesiology, Pediatrics & Pediatric subspecialties, and General Medicine.

    Other Specialties: Pharmacy, Nursing, Sterilization technician, Radiography, Anesthesia technician, Laboratory Technology experienced in molecular Biology or molecular genetics, Physiotherapy, Respiratory Therapy.

    Professional Licenses are issued for new applicants from above specialties once fulfilling the following requirements:

    1. Qualification and Experience as per the Professional Qualification Requirement (PQR).
    2. Valid professional license from the country where practiced
    3. Payment slip or evidence on submitting documents for Primary Source Verification (Dataflow)
    4. Employment contract or Offer letter from a Hospital (Government/Private) dealing with COVID-19 cases.

    New applicants will be exempted from Life support courses (BLS, PALS, ACLS etc.) and Medical Fitness Certificate for Healthcare professional above the age of 65.

    The Medical Director of the hospital shall ensure the professional competencies and skills as well as the physical and mental fitness of new applicants to practice the profession.

    DHA has the right to review all applications and communicate with those exempted professionals to complete professional licensure requirements later whenever the authority deems it appropriate.

    Licensed Healthcare Professionals

    Exempt healthcare professionals applying for renewal of professional license from the following requirements:

    1. Continuing Medical education/Continuous Professional Development Training hours.
    2. Life Support Courses (like BLS, PALS, ACLS, ALS).
    3. Medical Fitness Certificate for Healthcare professional above the age of 65.

    This circular is valid from today date of issuance till end of December, 2020
