Researchers conducted this randomised, triple-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study to determine whether vitamin D supplementation can effectively improve the degree of control of asthma in patients suffering from asthma. Participants were adult asthmatic patients with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin-D3 < 30 ng/mL. Oral supplementation with 16 000 IU of calcifediol per week was received by the intervention group, and placebo was added to their usual asthma treatment in the control group. In the intervention group vs the control group, there was a statistically significant clinical improvement as measured employing asthma control test scores. According to the findings, improved asthma control over 6 months was achieved by supplementation with weekly oral calcifediol vs placebo in adults with asthma and vitamin D deficiency.
