If you're the typical person who likes to wear comfortable clothing, but also wants a stylish look, you may want to check out scrubs.

Yes, they are usually worn in the hospital or a nursing home, because of their roomy, comfortable material, and because they protect your clothes from getting soiled from blood and other fluids.

Nursing students and doctors usually wear them out and then throw them away, but, there are many uses for medical scrubs. Whether you buy them or get them used, they can be cheap, alternative covers for everything from working in your yard to letting your kids dress up and play doctor.

    Here are five more uses.

    1. Lounging Around the House - After a long, hard day of work, you just want to slip into something a little more comfortable, but still presentable. Wearing scrubs can fit that bill. Also, if you're recovering from abdominal surgery or childbirth, they are great, because they aren't tight around the waist. Kids love them when they're sick, or even for Halloween or dress up.
    2. Working On a Vehicle - Wear them over your regular clothes, and they are great for changing oil or working under the car, as it protects your clothing. They're also good because they don't restrict movement. Wear them while washing and vacuuming your car.
    3. Painting - They are great for wearing while painting with oils, charcoal or water colors. They are roomy, comfortable and old ones can be ripped and used to clean up around your canvas. They can also be used to wipe off brushes or clean up spills from tables or floors.
    4. Pajamas - Scrubs are comfortable enough for sleep. Cotton material breathes, and if you don't feel like wearing bulky, hot pajamas, they're perfect. You can loosen them, if needed, as well.
    5. Outside Work - If you're painting the outside of your home, raking up leaves or even gardening, they stay cool, and the more you wear them, the softer they become.
There are many other uses for medical scrubs, including making throw pillows or tote bags for shopping. Use old ones for cleaning glass or polishing furniture. They come in many different sizes, colors and patterns. You can buy just one pair or stock up. Try them for working out, and they may just become your most favorite pieces of clothing to wear.
