We all know how to damage the liver ”“ drink large quantities of alcohol ”“ and a lot of us are very good at this (in fact it would be no exaggeration to say the vast majority of us are very good at this). The question is though, is there any way to undo this damage, or to at least moderate it? This is an important question as a healthy liver can help to tackle a range of serious illnesses and also serves many other important roles in our body. Here then we will address some foods that are great for helping the liver to heal and clean itself”¦

    Foods to Help the Liver
The good news is that the liver is the only organ of the body that is capable of healing and regenerating and this is even true after attacks of liver disease. Diets created to encourage this then are abundant and are mostly known as 'cirrhosis' diets which aim to repair the damaged cells.
The first thing you require to heal the liver is all of the nutrients and minerals that come from eating lots of fruits and vegetables ”“ and as you might expect eating a generally healthy diet will result in a generally healthy liver. In particular raw vegetables and fruits will contain the highest concentrations of vitamins and minerals while also providing you with roughage.

More specifically one small cocktail that is thought to have highly positive effects on the liver is to mix lemon with extra olive oil and to blend it into a glass of water. This appears to detox the liver and lower levels of billruben and heavy metals while increasing the production of bile, restoring the pH level of saliva and stimulating lymphatic flow.

Drinking lots of water is also good for any kind of detox and will help to 'flush' the system and the liver. Similarly eating lots of fibre will also help by travelling through the body undigested and ”˜brushing away’ debris as it goes as well as encouraging bowel movements. Of course during all this you also need to avoid alcohol.
