Researchers undertook this community-based prospective cohort investigation in Beijing, among elderly population, to examine the link between homocysteine and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and all-cause death, to ensure more effective clinical prediction as well as primary prevention of CVD. This study involved overall 1,257 participants with an average age of 69.16 years. Findings revealed a significant link of intermediate-to-severe hyperhomocysteinemia with CVD events as well as all-cause mortality in elderly population without a history of ischemia or congestive heart failure (CHF). Experts also noted that the positive link was pronounced in men.
