Let the good times roll, indeed! A hospital in New Orleans sent one patient home with a Mardi Gras-style parade after she successfully recovered from the coronavirus.

Ochsner Health shared a video of the fanfare on Facebook, saying, “We are so excited to announce the discharge of our 1,500th COVID-19 patient from Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans!”

Fifty-seven-year-old Kathleen Bennett spent almost 3 1/2 weeks in the hospital being treated for COVID-19. At one point, she was admitted to the ICU and was placed on a ventilator for 12 days before making an incredible recovery, Ochsner Health says.

Bennett is now quarantining with her family in Kansas and receiving virtual checkups from her doctors via telemedicine.

Ochsner Health says it’s caring for about one-third of Louisiana’s COVID-19 patients, and that Bennett’s recovery is an uplifting milestone for New Orleans, which has been hit hard by the virus since March.
