Havent worked in a hospital yet, only in an institution for mentally dissordered kids. However, I know the salary rates, and for med-students in the hospital it is about 19 euros an hour (ca 160 norwegian kroners), so pretty good pay for being a students in my opinion

In my country, Tunisia, we get paid for internship (6th + 7th years); around 500USD /month
We start training in the hospital twice per week in the 2nd year, then daily from the 3rd year (clinical), but we dont get paid for that.

We´re struggling such topic in Costa Rica. Since 1981, internship was paid to every student. On 2000, interns were to take an exam and the highest 350 grades were paid. But since last year, internship was paid to no one due to a "money crisis" at Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social, the institution in charge of public hospitals. Because of that, we interns decided to stop medical guards at 10 pm the second half of the year. Such decision was not accepted in some universities and hospitals, and threatened students with reprobation, but most people carry on with the decision. This year interns are having the same trouble. We're still struggling to received the payment of the "scholarship", as we call that payment. BTW, it would be like $550 monthly.
