    There are 3 types of Retinal Detachments:
    1. Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachments - these are caused by a tear or break in the retina and are most commonly associated with Posterior Vitreous Detachments.
    2. Tractional Retinal Detachments - these are caused by tractional forces between the vitreous inside the eye pulling the retina off the back wall of the eye and are most commonly associated with the growth of new blood vessels in the eye from diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions.
    3. Serous / Exudative Retinal Detachments - These are caused by systemic illnesses such as eclampsia of pregnancy
