My Health Record won’t take off without economic incentives for GPs to use the system, says Dr Tony Sara, the medical adviser at the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. “We all want it to work,” Dr Sara told The Medical Republic at the Wild Health Summit. “Given that there is no fundamental economic model, then my sense is that there needs to be some sort of payment to incentivise GPs to create the record.” A major problem was that the medical profession felt they were not consulted throughout the creation of My Health Record, he said. It became a technology project instead of a process of engagement with patients and health practitioners Source
