A COLD-hearted doctor was given a slap on the wrist by the authorities after he allegedly told one patient “don’t hold your breath, I’ve had people on the waiting list and they’ve died.”

Rude doctors have been given warnings by the GMC for being impolite
It is claimed the rude medic also said to the patient “I recognise you now from your bum”, and shouted at her husband “I’m trying to find out if she is lying to me”.

The doctor, who has not been named, is also accused of telling the elderly pair: “The biggest problem with your generation is that you’ve had the best out of the NHS and now your grandchildren and great grandchildren will be the ones to suffer.”

He was allegedly “aggressive, rude and abusive” in the consultation with the patient and was given a warning by the General Medical Council (GMC).

Its adjudication stated: “The handling of the consultation with the patient appears to have been characterised by rudeness and unacceptable remarks.”

The doctor was one of a string of medics who were given advice by the GMC last year following a complaint of rudeness against them.

It means that they were allowed to continue working as doctors but were advised they need to be more professional in their dealings with patients and colleagues.

In another of the cases a hospital doctor got in trouble for trying to throw a patient out of A&E.

He allegedly stormed back into the cubicle and said: “You haven’t been to your GP. You’re lying to me. Get out of my A&E.”
