New Zealand scientists have found that sleeping with an open mouth harmful to the teeth.

Many people, for one reason or another, sleep with open mouths.

This unremarkable trifle, as it turned out, can lead to the development of caries. During sleep, the respiratory processes arise through the mouth, which in turn leads to drying of the mouth. Thereby increasing the amount of saliva and, consequently, is an increase in acidity. It is a violation of the acid-alkaline balance in the mouth and leads to the risk of the occurrence of dental caries.

Scientists advise to pay attention not bed. After all, most often the cause of the open mouth during sleep is an uncomfortable mattress, pillow, or pose.
