Yes...Doctors should wear white coats. White is cleanliness and purity. Although it is prone to dirt, we can easily bleach it and no discolorations that will happen unlike with colored coats.
yes!! i wear withe clothes and here in my school every medical student wears withe clothes, and some doctors at hospital wears withe clothes.
Everyone and their brother wears a white coat at the hospital. Techs, nurses, everyone short of security and janitorial services. Personally, I think physicians should wear a new color, just for faculty level physicians. Let the others have the long white coat, they already wear it anyway. Who's a physician? who's in charge? The patients have no idea. They can't read the tiny badges either. I also think we should all dress professionally in the hospital setting. No coming and going in shorts and a tshirt.
i personally think so. and i think it sends a message to the public of who phsycians are what they stand for. :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:
yes, doctors should wear white coat. it shows that their heart is as white as coat and they will not do partiality towards their work
Personally I think it's nonsense. No one wears them at my medical school, not even consultants. Only those who work at the lab wear white coats because they need them, we simply don't
I agree with you. I find it provocative that so many people here answer yes or no without an explanation for their answer. "Yes of course" - Why? Do doctors wear them to show they are doctors? Can't they just wear a sign on their chest? Lab coats in clinics are extremely unpractical. Doctors also wear them open, which is even more insane. Why would you wear a lab coat. That impairs your functionality. NB: The same goes with wearing a stethoscope around your neck. You basically paralyze yourself. I would love to talk more about this
I gotta agree with IIIH. as much as being a doctor was my dream and it was sad to not see doctors at my current medical school, associated hospital or any seccondments that I visit not wearing white coats. I get that it is more of a traditional icon rather than a functionally appropriate wear. I was fortunate enough to experience wearing it in a clinical setting in India. Trust you me, to those enthusiasts of white coats like myself. Imagining the Indians in India wearing them is enough to put you off them for good - can u imagine half a KG of white material weighing you down in that heat - it was torture , even if the respect came naturally due to the white coat . Sugz, BTW new to the community - nice to meet your acquaintances
