On one hand, we have alarming statistics about the physician shortage across the United States, and on the other hand, it’s incredibly difficult to become a doctor. In fact, some of the more competitive medical schools in the U.S. accept less than 4 percent of applicants. We need more doctors, but it’s so difficult to become one. What gives, and what are the implications for our future doctors?
