its an extrophia caused by a deffect in the abdominal wall. usually it causes gastrochisis, an herniation of some parts of small intestine, and the hernia is located right from the umbelical cord. we can diagnose this problem sometimes in the prenatal US, around the 13th week pregnancy. usually the alfa-fetus-protein is raised in the mother's blood. the treatment is urgent surgery in a terciary hospital, and in the meanwhile, we should cover the viscera with wet gaze to prevent from temperature loss. mortality is those cases are around 5%.
