For those with a strong stomach, a nauseating procedure shows a surgeon struggling to remove a ball of pus from an eyeball.

The unnamed patient, believed to be male and from Madrid, is thought to have been suffering from a 'fat pad', or pinguecula, in his eye.

In the gruesome footage, ophthalmologist Dr Arteaga Sánchez can be seen struggling to remove the pus from deep within the patient's eye.

After pulling vigorously, the thick, yellow debris came out in one satisfying bulge.

When held against the patient's eye, the pus was more than one quarter its size.

After giving the patient an injection in the eye, ophthalmologist Dr Sánchez proceeded to make a gruesome incision.

He slowly pulled out pieces of pus, which were initially reluctant to come out.

While removing the cyst section-by-section, the surgeon cut the pus into smaller pieces by holding the debris against a cotton bud.

After one big pull, the remaining pus came out in one large lump.

When held against the patient, the yellow debris is more than a quarter of the size of his eye.

The patient did not require stitches for the tiny incision, which Dr Sánchez proceeded to dab with some kind of gel.

It is unknown how the patient recovered or what his vision is now.
