    Surface anatomy

    Surface anatomy of the human body has been defined in various ways :
    A. The surface anatomy is the study of the configuration of the surface of the body, specially in relation to its internal parts.

    B. surface anatomy
    surface anatomy is the study of the structural relationships of the external features of the body to the internal organs and parts. Compare cross-sectional anatomy.

    Thus, for studying purpose the human body surface has been devided in many triangles, squares and segments and each of these is given a name and covers defferent structures situated at different depths

    Why do we study surface anatomy ?

    Knowing surface anatomy is as important for a doctor as is the anatomy.. and it helps us in various ways:

    1. Helps to relate the signs and symptoms to the possible structure/s involved.
    2. Helps in presuming the possible structure/s as the source of the signs and symptoms
    2. The knowledge of the underlying structures help in performing the physical examinations to the patient
    3, Helps in making the diffrrential diagnosis
    4. Helps in stablishing the possible diagnosis,.

    Finally wether surgeons or internists need to know anatomy and surface anatomy
