    Work environment and work-life balance have great impact on doctor on his work performance. There are also factors that couldn’t be easily changed such as salary, colleagues, location of your medical practice which could cause stress.

    In more details, we could explain that doctors work environment I the following points:

    Interpersonal relationships

    • Have a high level of social interaction. They constantly talk with patients, parents, and medical staff.
    • Are greatly responsible for the health and safety of their patients and the people they supervise.
    • Are responsible for the work outcomes of the staff they supervise.
    • Often are placed in conflict situations in which patients and family members may be unpleasant or angry.
    • Work as part of a team providing care to patients.
    • Communicate with medical staff and patients daily by phone, e-mail, and in person.
    Physical work conditions
    • Always work indoors.
    • Work daily with patients who have diseases or infections.
    • Wear protective clothing weekly such as masks, gloves, or apron.
    • Work physically near patients.
    Work performance
    • Must be very exact and accurate in performing their job. This is very important because very serious mistakes could risk patients' health.
    • Repeat the same physical and mental activities, especially when performing exams.
    • Make decisions on a daily basis that substantially impact patients and their families.
    • Make nearly all their decisions and set their daily tasks and goals independently.
    • Must meet strict weekly deadlines.

      Here are some tips to handle this work environment


      1- Apply digital life to your patients!
      The patient could connect with you faster through your cell phone, however, it isn't logic to diagnose using digital life but in certain situations it could be available like scheduling appointments
      The patient-doctor relation could be easy in showing photos for example for changes in color skin or sending your strange in a voice message and in this case, the doctor could advise with medication or that the case is critical and worth a visit.

      2- Use de-stress tools
      Physicians can't change the number of working hours and at the same time they experience of a high level of stress as they should be committed and responsible to save the lives of several patients daily. But despite all this you have to take a break for at least 10 minutes even if you are busy to improve your work performance.
      There are meditation apps you could download such as Calm and Headspace which helps you to ease anxiety with breathing sessions and clear your mind with soothing music and clean your thoughts with natural scenes.

      3- Decrease administrative burdens with technology
      A study says that doctors in the USA, the doctor spends 8.7 hours per week on administration and Psychiatrists spend the highest proportion of working hours on paperwork followed by internists and general practitioners.

It is an ambitious long-term exploratory project to build a next-generation “cognitive assistant” with analytical, reasoning capabilities and a wide range of clinical knowledge. San Francisco-based Augmedix aims to harness the power of Google Glass to make healthcare more patient-centric and cut down on administration. It provides a technology-enabled documentation service for doctors and health systems, so physicians do not have to check their computers during the patient visits, while medical notes are still generated in real-time[​IMG] .
