Truven Health Analytics, a healthcare data and analytics solutions service, on Monday released its annual list of the nation's 100 top hospitals. The study identifies the top 100 hospitals in the country based on overall organizational performance. To compile the list, Truven analyzed the annual performance of hospitals on key quality measures from 2011 through 2015. Hospitals demonstrated major improvements in the areas of inpatient mortality and complication rates, 30-day readmissions and lengths of stay, according to the study. More than half of hospitals (52 percent) had lower readmission rates, 21 percent had lower mortality rates and 18 percent had shorter lengths of stay. A majority of hospitals (79 percent) also maintained steady costs for treating an inpatient over the five-year study period. Here are the Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals, organized by size and type.
