Physicians of varying ages may have different values of the Hippocratic Oath, with some even saying the oath is "sadly irrelevant," according to Medscape.

    Here's what you should note:

    1. Thirty-nine percent of physicians under age 34 said the Hippocratic Oath was very meaningful, compared to less than 70 percent of physicians aged 65 and older.

    2. Among physicians aged 65 and older, 64 percent said they took the Hippocratic Oath and 17 percent reported not taking an oath.

    3. Thirty-nine percent of physicians under age 34 reported taking the Hippocratic Oath and 14 percent reported not taking an oath. Seventeen percent took an oath that a medical school faculty wrote.

    4. Overall, 56 percent of physicians took the Hippocratic Oath.
