    yes it has happened. I was working in another theatre [room] so only heard about it.

    It must have happened way back in the 80s

    It was a kidney and the vessels had been trimmed to meet the needs of the new recipient at one trolley so then passed over to go to the surgeon who had the patient ready and they say it just did a leap and slithered to the ground. so they washed it, with about 10 litres of saline, gave the patient antibiotics and put it in. it started pee-ing immediately, and there were absolutely no setbacks for the patient or the kidney. Yes from then on all organs were passed in a bowl to prevent an occurrence
