Most of doctors or healthcare prof. do their best to keep their patients alive but there is no guarantee against death. How did you deal with the first situation like this in your career ? What do you feel when your patient dies ? Did you do mistakes that was direct cause in the death of any of your patients?, if yes did you forgive yourself? Did you get used to death with experience ?
I have not had enough experience with death of a patient. But, if one shall die it Is emotional and tough because I feel for the family. Death is always a sensitive situation for everyone involved. A person's death should be treated with respect and just to imagine doing something wrong would be devastating. Asking for forgiveness and learning from one's mistakes may and may not help one when they know they made s mistake.
I followed a full protocol for the resuscitation of the patient. I was worried whether I did not commit any mistake and I did a Thorough introspection ,asked my seniors ,consultants whatelse I could have done.with time I learnt to control the emotions those were overwhelming at the time of first patients death. My first words to attendants of the diseased were 'we treat the disease ,not the death'.
