In Iran it depends on private office work. For example if you don't have private office as a GP, the salary would be from 300 to 2000.
Here in Bangkok Thailand is around 12k - 15k / m but aren't we supposed to protect life not bank accounts?
In Malaysia, a young doctor (non specialist) as 4th year in service in the government hospital can earn USD 2300 after tax payment. It's considered a high salary in a developing country, and that's also the reason why so many unqualified doctors from other 3rd world countries flush into Malaysia to join our medical system. The worse thing is, our government are more than happy to welcome them although knowing that they are incompetent to treat. And most of these foreigners doctors are sent to rural area in Borneo island to treat the indigenous people.
Medical practice in USA is highly paid. One reason is frequent law suits. In India the income from medical practice is very low. The prestige associated with the profession is declining. Recently Culcutta court awarded a compensation of Rs one crore for a patient's relative.
if you do it for the money you picked the wrong career..... seriously how can you be so hungry for money?!
Doctors shouldn't be paid lots of money whereas the patient has difficulty paying the doctors. Advanced technology does not necessarily mean better care or healing. I have worked in countless nursing homes and see how many people really don't get well. There are simple remedies that work but most American, Canadian, and European doctors are scared to use natural medicines because it does not bring in the bucks that the drug companies want. So doctors rather prescribe drugs that do more harm than good all because they are more concerned about their jobs than the patients they see. Doctors who want to work with natural medicines or work with are told they are crazy or ran out of town and have to practice out of their country where natural medicines are accepted. Charcoal is one of the best by far natural medicines that heal severe to minor diseases..this is a known fact and it has no side affects. Have all of you forgotten "Do no harm?"
Really doesn't matter much to me, more or less physicians success is not measured by how much money he makes ....
Guys all these salaries in original post were per year. One thing to keep in mind is that in US - you have taxes: for example a Hospitalist (Internal Medicine) with salary of $210K per year can only get $130K tax free money. On top of that cost of living is high. For example to pay mortgage on a house - you pay $30-40K a year for house only. Add to that food, gas, utilities (electricity, heat, water, etc) other expenses and you are essentially left with just enough to continue to live. And then you have to repay your $300K med.school loan. Some doctors after residency can't even afford good car or let alone take a mortgage - because of that So comparing salaries is only half-picture of real thing. The other half is you have to take into account all expenses and see what you left with. Of course even if you are left with very little - lifestyle will be good - good house, good car and so on. But essentially - if you don't like your profession - it will be a hell to work in any country P.S. Oh and to the silly show off girl from Switzerland - next time try to not lie or at least present average statistical salaries for doctors. In Switzerland average salary is $125K LOL - which is almost twice as low as in US. Live and learn. $500k-1mil can be made if you have private offices etc. but that is true for almost any country - that's more business income than salary
Wow. Very insightful guides. The salary for a practicing medical doctor differs from country to country and it depends on several factors. Here are also the average medical doctor salary in Canada.
