1- Hair treatments, rebonding and colouring: The more you experiment with your hair, the weaker it gets. If you must colour your hair make sure you use good products followed by after-colour nourishment. Hair does not respond well to heat. Rollers, tongs and hair dryers should not be your go-to styling tools. Hair becomes weak when exposed to too much heat. It is advisable to wash your hair with cold or lukewarm water. 2- Hair cut: If the length of your hair is thinning get a new haircut because tapered ends give the impression of a bad case of hair fall. Go for trims at least once in two months to get rid of any split ends. 3- Sleep regime: Wash off any hair products (mousse, gel, serum et al) before hitting the sack. Any synthetic hair product kept overnight is damaging for your strands. If you have long hair, untangle any knots and tie a loose braid. Switch your rough pillow covers with satin and sleep like a princess. Satin is less coarse than cotton; thus less damaging. 4- After wash care: Hair is most vulnerable when wet. After washing your hair, flip your hair forward and tie a towel around your head like a turban. Gently squeeze the towel instead of rubbing or dabbing your hair dry. Let your hair dry naturally and avoid combing it when wet. This avoids any hair breakage. 5- Dandruff: Dandruff can wreak havoc not just with your hair but also your skin. Basically, it is a fungal infection that needs to be cured as soon as you spot white flakes in your mane. Keep your scalp clean by regular shampooing. 6- Coconut oil: Coconut oil, as mentioned earlier, is rich in vitamin oils and is excellent for your hair. Warm the oil and then massage it gently on the scalp. Follow this with turban therapy. Turban therapy involves soaking a towel in warm water and then tying it around your head while allowing your scalp to absorb the oil. Leave it in for 10 minutes and then wash off with a shampoo. Do this once a week for stronger hair. 7- Exercise: You need exercise to stay healthy and have beautiful hair. Working out for atleast an hour everyday will ease stress, boost circulation to your scalp, enhancing hair growth and take care of digestive problems that might interfere in the absorption of nutritious hair foods. 8- Hormonal Imbalance: Any imbalance in your hormonal levels can cause hair fall. Most women complain of hair loss after childbirth. Genes play a huge role in determining the health of your hair post-pregnancy. You have to ensure that your diet is rich in nutrients and don't neglect your hair care regime when pregnant. Hair loss is also caused if you have hypo or hyper thyroid. 9-Stress: If hair loss has taken you by surprise don't stress about it because that will worsen the problem. Stress is the biggest cause of severe hair loss in most cases. Take it easy and take one thing at a time to stop worrying about the future. Try relaxation techniques like meditation and deep breathing to calm your nerves. 10-Diet: For those who diet without consuming the right amount of nutrients, your hair is bound to suffer. Along with a healthy dose of Vitamin A (pumpkin, mangoes and carrots), Vitamin E (wheat germ, almond, avocado, coconut) and Vitamin C (amla, guava, lemon and citrus fruits), you need to consume healthy fats so that your body can absorb these vitamins. Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish and walnuts and cold pressed oil like olive and mustard help absorb these vitamins for a healthy you and stronger hair. Source
