The number of Eastern European doctors working in Norway, are increasing sharply . Highly trained doctors in Eastern Europe are leaving their home country for work in western Europe and Northern Europe/Scandinavia. Figures Aftenposten has gained from a Medical Association in Romania, show that 14,000 doctors have left the country over the last five years. At present work is under 40,000 doctors in Romania. In Bulgaria, many of the best doctors are leaving the country. In a recent survey of newly qualified doctors from the Medical University of Sofia, 80 percent said they plan to go abroad for work. Around 800 doctors under 50 years left Bulgaria in 2013. Several other countries in Eastern Europe are struggling with huge exodus of young doctors . Most travel to Britain, Germany and France. But the number who travel to Scandinavia, is rapidly growing .Many hospitals recruited through professional staffing agencies. Source
