A 57 year old woman visits her physician complaining of left knee pain for 3 weeks. She doesn't recall any trauma or injury. She takes ibuprofen with less or even no improvement. On physical examination, she is overweight and her vital signs are within normal limits. There is marked tenderness anteriorly just distal to the knee joint with slight buffness. There is no effusion and the range of motion in both knees is good.

What is the most appropriate action for pain relief?

    A- Ibuprofen 600 mg every 6 hours

B- Restriction of movement of the left knee with a plastic cast for 2 weeks

C- Intra-articular injection of the left knee with cortisone

D- Intra-articular injection of the left knee with local anaesthetic

E- Injection of left pes anserine bursa with cortisone
