When doctors or healthcare professionals make mistakes they tend to be cruel on themselves, they feel ashamed and humiliated, they can even consider quitting the medical career according to the severity of the mistake. Here are some tips to help you deal with the consequences of committing a medical mistake or a medical error.

- First you have to admit and take responsibility of your fault and give a deep and sincere apology for the patient’s family and explain all details of the incidence, and report to the hospital.

- Take an advice on how to correct or reform the situation from more experienced and trusted colleagues who can help and guide you during the process.

- Deal with the stress coming from the regret you feel, try to recover; practice sport, yoga or meditation, if you can’t handle your feelings don’t hesitate to join a group therapy for support.

- Work on preventing the mistake from being repeated again.
